Estonia on target to join Euro in 2011

Saturday, 19 June 2010

Estonia is on target and pushing ahead to become the 17th country to join the euro, despite the current turmoil in the eurozone.

Final signatures from the european finance ministers are expected in July and then the euro will replace the Estonian kroon from January 1st 2011.

The Kroon was established in 1991 and has been pegged to the euro since 1993 so the perceived and actual inflation pressures are expected to be reduced.
