World’s longest sea bridge aids regional economic growth

Towards 2010 attention will naturally shift from Beijing towards Shanghai as it hosts the World EXPO, and the bustling southern metropolis of Guangzhou with its Asian Games.

South of Shanghai the opening in May of the £840 million, 36 km long Hangzhou Bay Bridge conveniently links China’s financial hub with deep water port Ningbo and the exportorientated cities of Zhejiang Province forging an increasingly powerful economic area focused on the Lower Yangtze (Changjiang).
