EU-Canada free trade deal talks

Canada and the European Union are set to begin talks on a new Free Trade Agreement after federal elections in the North American country in October. An EU trade delegation plans to visit Canada to meet with the Canadian Trade Minister Michael Fortier to discuss bilateral trade agreements and investment.

A successful trade agreement would mean Canada would be the only ‘developed’ nation to hold such an agreement with both Europe and the US and would open up the Canadian market to the 27 European member countries.
